Victor III With Odd Horn

Pretty sure that it's not a Victor Horn, looks like a Columbia, but I didn't think Columbia made 11 panel horns, but given the fact that it doesn't seem to fit very well would indicate that the threaded end of a Columbia horn would keep it from "seating" properly in the elbow.
Just a generic aftermarket horn then ?

Columbia did have 11 panel horns. Not sure if this is one of them. There were lots of aftermarket horns for Victors... and a lot of messed up horns jammed into Victor elbows. Not sure where this one falls.

The Victor petal horn shown in the ebay listing was offered for a
very brief time and temporary fix by Victor for their early Victor 6 (instead of the black paper mache horn) . The reason, Victor was no longer able receive supply of the paper mache horn from the horn manufacturer "Allen's" of Kobe Japan for a period due to the conflict (Russo-Japanese war). I do not believe this petal horn was offered on any other Victor model. Victor quickly came up with a nicer replacement with their all brass flower horn (24B). Followed soon by a spear-tip wood horn.
By the way, if you don't own a copy of "Look For The Dog" I would recommend buying one.

If you look carefully at the top right-hand outer surface of the horn pictured in the OP's first post, there's a hanger present. This horn was probably modified from a cylinder horn.

George, I respectfully disagree. The "hanger' is just an area of paint loss/scratch..... in my opinion.

You may be right, Wayne. Anyone seriously interested should contact the seller and get the full scoop.

I doubt the seller would know, says he found it in an attic after 80 years, I didn't want to bother him since I'm not actually interested in buying it, just was curios about the odd looking horn.
It looks just too big for the cabinet, looks OK on the Victor VI though.

I think it's the horn mentioned by Gram78, discussed in this thread.
