Best finds of 2021?

I noticed there wasn't one of these threads yet, so I figured I'd make one. I picked up what was left of a C19 (with the motor + reproducer in VERY nice shape) for $100- considering the Edisonic, quite a good deal.

ah, my bad. I figured that would be in Machines rather than Parlor.

This record cabinet was one of my better additions for 2021. It holds standard cylinders but doesn't the Concert look good on top?

The only machine I purchased this year was a Columbia Q, so that would be my best find by default. As for recordings, probably the 5 Berliners and the prewar blues and late pressing 78s I found this year are some of my best finds.

My favorite find of 2021 was this Victor VE-XVI (sn 3660 A; "Special Finish"), which I found in the wilds of Wisconsin back in August. The previous owners (non-collectors) had only used it as a decorator item for over 25 years, and had never plugged in it. The machine is in spectacular, all original condition --- right down to the original, though tattered and unusable, power cord. As a bonus, an aftermarket, record repeater was installed in this machine. The pics below (click each twice for proper orientation and to enlarge) were taken at the time of purchase.

Edit: Two more pics added at Django's request.

My best find is that I’m (surprisingly) still alive.

That's a fantastic cabinet! Matches the Concert very well.

Much felicitations to Raphael for being alive! A state which I highly recommend everyone try out at least once. You might not like it, but it's still worth it to have done it, just to try it on for size.

My best find of 2021, bar none, would have to be one machine-- the Edison A-200 "Queen Anne," surprisingly still working and loaded with Diamond Discs. This thing is gorgeous and it sounds quite good. I'm impressed with the whole thing--the cabinet style, the ease of use (you could run this thing blindfolded with one hand) and the Diamond Disc format. This was my first Edison cabinet phonograph; the rest have all been old type cylinder machines to sit on the table.

If I spent further phonograph money on buying new Diamond Discs, it's money well spent--this thing is getting a Figure 6 installed eventually and some hot DD's. I didn't really expect the Edison Disc Phonograph to sound this good, but it does, so I like it. I'm very grateful to have this. Hopefully the new Year brings some new Edison records.
