Hello,
I've just bought this little device for lifting the reproducer on Victor phonographs.
The seller called it "Enterright".
Have you ever seen one before?
Any info?
Is it common or scarce?

We showed an "Enterright" on page 78 of Antique Phonograph Gadgets, Gizmos, and Gimmicks. The original box has instructions, which are exactly quoted here:

Unscrew large nut in end of goose neck or curve part of tone arm. place knob of enterright in line with center of reproducer. tighten screw solidly, using care not to break threads by Violent pressure but tight enough to avoid it turning.

I like the way nothing in the directions is capitalized except the first word and "Violent."

I like that, too, George! When I lived in California I became interested in what I call 'Desert Humor'. I know this is off-topic and I don't mean to hijack the thread, but I'd like to introduce you to Dick Wick Hall who operated his "Laughing Gas Station" at Salome, Arizona in the early 20th C. He used to print up a little sheet that was handed out to customers called the Salome Sun, full of odd little stories that he would write. In the 1920's, an editor of the Saturday Evening Post stopped there on his way to Los Angeles, read a copy of the Salome Sun, and invited Hall to contribute stories to the publication which made him nationally known. Hall was the master of the off-hand, odd, or unexpected capital letter, and often could crack you up just by what word or words in the story he chose to capitalize (or not). That is a very neat device indeed! Unfortunately, on the narrow taper tube ("tone arm"), like the one pictured, I think that the goose neck is held on by a plug, not a screw. I have tried to remove the one on my XI (1917) but I feared marring the nickel plate and the slot so I made no further attempts.

BTW, I don't see the beeswax sealing droplet on the Exhibition reproducer pictured, where the needle bar contacts the diaphragm. Looks like this step was omitted in the rebuild (I assume from the fresh-looking front gaskets). Comments?

I've learned a lot about this curious "Enterright".
This item is scarce but I've paid it like it was made of gold!
Unfortunately the box doesn't come with it.
The piece isn't in my hands yet, so the phonograph showed is not mine.
I've bought the Enterright from a seller who does restoration and rebuilding of reproducers too. Probably the exhibition mounted on this phono wasn't finished yet.
