I wonder if anyone's heard this or not - I've stumbled across a radio 4 documentary series detailing recordings made in the 19th century. Amongst the gems here are a recording of Queen Victoria, the only 19th century wildlife recording and Berliner and Edison's recordings.

Well worth a look!

The program was interesting, but the contents of the broadcast were not that satisfying - the show has lots of errors regarding early celebrities recordings, and there would be no excuse for including the fake "Gladstone" recording on the show (There is the authentic Gladstone recording posted on Edison National Historic Site homepage for number of years.)
