The Talking Machine Forum — For All Antique Phonographs & Recordings

Has anyone seen a talking machine like this? It's a clam shell type talking machine. The decal on the inside indicates is an Adora brand. Any comments? Thanks, Jerry

Never seen one around here. Looks nice. Almost a portable if it had a handle. Found this on the Tim Gracyk's site:

Come on gang... give me your best shots! I deserve it. I saw it on craigslist Boise and it looked so interesting. The seller answered all my questions and the price was right so I bought it. A friend picked it up and I finally got it a day ago. I liked it when I first saw it and I liked it until I started cleaning...then I saw it.

LOL...well I still like it. Someone did a great job turning that lid inside out!

My first impression was that it looked like two lids put together. I guess my first impression was right. I must say it was done very well and appears to be very natural.

I still like it. But I'd get another turntable and tonearm and mount in the (real) lid and astound my friends with my original "double gramophone". You could tell your friends that one lid is for 78s and the other lid is for 80 speed records. Just turn it upside down...

Honestly I think it's cute and someone has gone to a lot of trouble.

From today's point of view, this is the most stylish antique talking machine ever.

I've only seen the earlier, outside version of this phonograph.
