Sales on the Forum…

I have a bone to pick that has happened a couple of times here on the forum, recently with some Victor E parts that I mentioned on the forum to mark sold. The seller never would respond back to me. I tried to follow up with emails as well just to find out they were sold out from under me? Is there not any correct policies to follow here? Speaks of character…

I always say in my for sale listings. First to reply " SOLD " in the listing, Gets it. This keeps it above board, There can be no question who agreed to buy it first. PM sent is NOT an agreement to buy.
Ticticdoc I see your response to the Victor E parts listing and you stated your intention to buy and should have received the option to buy.

Notes on the subject, not this particular situation. :coffee:

The seller may not be able to reply for many reasons. We all can also see when the last time a member has logged in. We do not know if the seller has this for sale elsewhere. Good communication is always in a sellers best interest.

Wether it is a Post or a PM or an Email it has a time posted/sent. If the content says sold, it's first come first served for me. I usually ask for a PM to be sent, because it's easy to review and reply to interested persons. I also follow-up with a late interested party and share that they were not quick enough. I needed to prove this once to a angered party who thought a favorite was in play. Sure it's disappointing, but that's the way it goes.

James.

I’m still waiting for you to get back to me about a music box I wanted to buy at Christmas time. Maybe people are tired of your antics?

I posted my intention to buy the parts right after it was listed and never heard anything back from the seller after several pm’s and an email. The seller should at least make the effort to reply back. I purchased some other items from the seller before and even then I had to chase him down. It took over a week.

Columbia1spring… most of the information you requested about the music box was on the description but if you want that music box, contact me and I will give you a special price on it since I failed to get back with you.

I needed it for Christmas, it’s now February!

Communication in this day and age is simple, fast and free. There is no excuse, either for buyers or sellers, to ignore each other unless there is a prior history of discord.

One of my main gripes as a seller is when providing information to inquirers, never hearing from them again. Not even a short "thanks", or a thumbs up, or anything. Did they receive the information? Did they not like your offering and/or price? Did they die? Just last week, somebody in England had me answering all sorts of questions, even opening up a machine for an additional photo, etc., and then simply ghosted me. Nice.

I agree with you 100%
I buy off this forum all the time, to date over 18 phonographs. When I get treated like crap, I move along and buy from the next seller. I’ve bought 8 machines from one seller, 5 from another and so on.
Even as I write this I’m waiting on another phonograph to arrive I bought here. Some people care less about the hobby, it’s all about money and greed! Others are pleasant and a delight to deal with.
Can’t teach an old dog manners!

messages sent through TMF can move at a snail's pace. if I want instant messaging, I'd use cell phone or email to expedite communications
