I'm looking for a mahogany motor board for a Victor IV. I don't need any of the hardware...just the motor board itself. Finish is not important as I will need to refinish the base. Thanks in advance to anyone with a spare they are willing to sell.

Why not just make one, or have one made ?
The route on the edge is not very complicated.

Just another suggestion. You can take a messed up motor board, fill the holes and cracks and have a new veneer placed on top. If done well, it looks really good.

Thanks for the suggestions. A piece of my motor board is broken off (an inch or so off the front) and long gone. I was hoping to find an original replacement, but maybe I can find a skilled woodworker (not me!) to make a replacement or possibly figure out how to repair the one I have.

3 descent ways of repairing it, replacement, prepare the missing area to accept a new piece, or cut the entire area off, glue a new piece on, and re-route.

Who ever you get to do it, don't let them fill it with Bondo _ that's a crappy way of doing it.

It will be stained dark so it's pretty easy to hide the repair.

Gluing an entire piece on would be the quickest and look the best.

I did this sort of thing for a living for 30 years so time was an issue, so I would glue on an entire piece.

I agree with replacing the side. I got an old messed up top board that still had the one good side and had a cabinet maker friend cut and glue together the 2 pieces. It looked great, especially the IV with the dark mahogany colour hiding the seam.

Thanks again for the suggestions. Mine is not the one in the prior thread / post and is a good candidate for repair when I find someone willing to take on a small job.

If I had to repair that, I would add a piece right on the original lamination.
It wouldn't make sense to laminate a new piece just in the area where the break is.

I would have to do a little research to get the correct mahogany, and that would be the biggest challenge.

When these things were made, there was no such thing as endangered species, or small little trees with uninteresting grain.
Now we have farmed wood that's small with ugly grain _ in general; there maybe something out there, but it would be a search.

EDIT:
Taking a quick look around, probably African mahogany, I have a Victor IV of my own that will require extensive repair as there are so many holes in it, that I plan on just replacing the pieces.
So when I find out the exact species, I'll post it here.
It may be a while though, it's not a priority.

I have a motorboard that looks like that out of an early VV-XVI. What are your board's dimensions and I will check out mine for you. My board does have 2 or 4 holes in the corners to mount it. Would that be a problem for you ? It also had a 3 spring motor I believe.....
