My favorite Orthophonic machine. Smaller and at least to me, much better looking than a Credenza. I have one in Walnut and it in my living room Orthophonic.

I have an 8-12 in my collection and this one appears to have had a motor board swap. Am I wrong?

I also noticed the back of the sound box. It looks like a replacement, definitely not an orthophonic sound box.

Still, the price seems pretty good if all the other components are original.

I don't think the V 8-12 would have a speed indicator. Just a speed adjustment.

I can’t say if the motor board is original, but the speed indicator is correct. This is my Walnut 8-12.

Yes, the speed indicator on my 8-12 is the same.

This one is not mine but I also have a later one without the open speed indicator. This probably occurred when they dropped the gold for the oxidized bronze.

I actually looked at this one in person, it's in Burlington/Farmington CT. Yes, it definitely has the wrong reproducer, it's got a 1940s style orange gasket screw-to-secure type but the machine itself is in beautiful condition. If my car wasn't already full with the 4-20X I probably would have tried talking him down (due mainly to the reproducer) and put it in my car. Yes, the motor board has a different finish, didn't really take it too much apart because I knew I wasn't going to get it and didn't really want to get the guy's hopes up too much with delving that deeply into it. This is sitting in a tiny rinky-dink trash-to-treasure type shop. Guy doesn't know a whole ton about these but has a "friend" who cleans them up and oils them. If nothing else it's a great cabinet. Other machines there as well, a VV 2-50, couple of Victrola Vi table top types, all look as though they've been stored in a basement for a long, long time.

What was the asking price for it? I see the listing is no longer posted.

I believe it was $325 or $350. It really was a nice machine but if I had been interested I wouldn't have taken it for more than $250 or $275 with the wrong reproducer
