I have a near-complete set of the American Record Guide from the '30s-50s, and just came across this interesting 2-part article written in 1952 by well-known early recording-era writer Ulysses "Jim" Walsh (1903-90; most famous for his column “Favorite Pioneer Recording Artists” in Hobbies Magazine).
Just thought you'd all appreciate reading it.

Binding Elizabeth Spencer's um..parts... to cure the vibrato was the most amazing anecdote.

This is slightly off-topic, but is there any Online access for the Hobbies Magazine? I want to check some articles written about this subjects (especially anything written by Aida Favia-Artsay) but I never had a chance for finding it.
It is rather difficult to locate any copy of this magazine as I'm in Korea. I tried to locate this magazine on the National Assembly Library and the National Library of Korea, but there were only handful holdings of this magazine, all of which didn't contained any useful information about records.
