That's an amazing story and a beautiful piece of artwork. Glad that the museum was able to restore it to such glory. I cannot even imagine the thought process in someone's head when they decided to paint over such artwork. At least the museum was able to remove that paint.

Yes, thanks for sharing, Roger. It is always interesting to read and see stories surronding a gramophone, and since I have restored two HMV 156 the last year myself, I see images in my head already of what it looks inside. I doubt however I will do something similar to my 156 :mrgreen: ..that is of course also an excuse for my lousy artistic painting abilities.

Indeed an interesting gramophone history, Roger. Thanks for posting it!

It brings some food for thought: how many of us would add that machine to our collections, even being aware that it was painted by a professional artist?
