Dead Something - CL - Mission, BC

Here is a dead something advertised as a Victrola, perhaps in a generic sense as with Xerox, Kleenex, etc.

Edit: $80 CDN about $64 US.

It is in Mission, BC, which is a considerable distance along the north side of the Fraser River from Vancouver, BC

The cabinet appears to be in pristine condition if if has not been refinished. I am not personally fond of the look. The price asked has been plummeting recently. It is begging to be saved from liquor/drinks cabinet conversion. "Please, please, don't let me suffer that shame!"

The price of this thing just continues to fall. The seller wants to get rid of it.

So I contacted the him. He posted more pics. His mother refinished the cabinet decades and decades ago so any decals are long gone.

It hasn't worked since the seller was a child. He does not remember what make it was. He is using Victrola in the ad as generic term for a wind up record player.

Does anyone recognise the machine? It it were something interesting and I could get a good enough price on it, I might consider it as a project, maybe ....

By the (broken) lid stay and the click-clack tonearm, I'd bet it's an Aeolian Vocalion model...

"I'd bet it's an Aeolian Vocalion mode'," he said in a manner guaranteed to entice him into going to look at the machine.

Sadly, I do no think so. I have seen (in pictures) maybe three different A-V arm configurations and none look exactly like this arm. All seem to have similar sound box/reproducer units, all with the A-V logo visible behind the mica diaphragm.

I asked the seller to look but he said there was no company badging.
