Berry beautiful... I'm not an expert (pardon the pun, intended) but maybe it has been over-finished, but looks very nice and in good playing condition.
Let's see what price reaches in the end...
Anyone knows to whom it belonged by the location?

I don't recognise the machine, but apart from a possibly refinished elbow it looks original and unmolested.
I would expect it to exceed the pre-sale estimate, but there is that hefty 30% premium to add.
The alloy casing of the Collaro induction motor can become distorted in old age. I speak from experience!
Eventually I replaced the motor unit with a Garrard which has been trouble free so far.

This instrument has been owned and carefully cherished by a long-term lover of music and there is also a large collection of classical/operatic records needing to find a new home. The Xb is in very good, fully working, condition with perfectly circular horn bell and top condition four-spring soundbox representing an opportunity as good as it gets. The sale price will no doubt reflect the rarety and desirability.

The record collection is described as : "A very extensive quantity of 78 RPM classical records, mostly opera and including some rare recordings". Unfortunately the exact quantity is not quoted but I understand there are many hundreds. Lot 485 :

What an amazing opportunity for the buyer of both lots to reap the benefit of a lifetime's hard-won collection and the perfect instrument to reproduce them !

In the USA, BYOB means bring your own beer. Now I find out that the acronym stems from the Olde English expression ¨Bring Your Own Box¨. As least the warning prevents the buyer from trashing the discs and taking the boxes home.

Xb sold for £4,000. Records sold for £156. Both prices including all expenses.

4000 pounds all included seems a good price for that nice usable example, isn't it?
