Is the gold color really all that uncommon? Which finish would be more so, then? Mine is gold. In fact, I just played a 12" disc with it last night, and it sounded pretty good, low-volume but otherwise clean, and despite the odd cut groove at the beginning it played through with no skips or hangs. Not always a given with these. (30002, a hodge-podge of overtures and opera transcriptions.) And that's the long and the short of it. ;)

Since the factory Long Play models all have bronze finishes, a gold Long reproducer would have come with a conversion kit for a gold model, perhaps a C-250/C-19. Since not many conversion kits were sold, the gold Long reproducers are proportionately scarce.

Good to know. I've never seen one in bronze--but then, I've never seen an LP console machine, either.

Yep. Conversion kit.
