Many thousands of Victor 2-55 portables were manufactured. A third of a million (329,100) according to the shipping records published by Bob Baumbach in his Victor Data Book!

Here is an interesting Victor advertisement for the dealers and also one for an unusual stand. Has anyone ever come across on of these stands?

Show. Us your 2-55’s

Oh, don’t mention that model around me unless you want me to get into a rant about what happened with mine and why I’m using my Brunswick 109 and not that machine! 🙃

Granted, it’s more about ppl and their poor packing than the machine itself…

Who ships a machine with heavy 78s still in the record holder? Amazingly the records survived better than the machine did! Still remains the only negative review I’ve ever given anyone on ebay!

Having never seen this ad before, most of us would have walked right past one in an antique shop or at an auction, thinking it was just an old plant stand.

I think someone on here has a similar metal stand for sale a few months back.

Earl H for the win! When I decided to grab it, someone else already did!

Okok here’s a photo of mine… you can see the damage that was caused by leaving 78sin the holder and the tonearm bracket I had to epoxy… 🤬

I find it hard to believe that the "Metal Console Table" was designed to support a portable gramophone.
As Chuck says, it looks like a plant stand.

I bought the metal stand from Earl. Very cool item, and one I'd never seen before. Yes, at first glance it would seem to be a plant stand or radio table but the open top was a dead giveaway it wasn't intended for either of those purposes. There's what appears to be a transfer decal on the underside of the shelf, but it is very faded and nearly impossible to read. I will be picking up a 2-55 (as well as a 2-35 and a 2-60) at the Midwest show next month. I will post some photos of the machine and stand together then.

I ran across the 2-55 Patent while searching for something else!

Lots of details and 12 Patent claims!
