The horn's mouth, which does not have slats, is at the very bottom where the grille is. It's an odd design, because in order to get the full value of the very long--though not exponential--horn, you'd have to lie on the floor. Still, based on the number of Puritan phonographs that have turned up over the years, these must have been somewhat popular.

Hi Jeff:

No bad about it. Logic tells one, that's where the horn's mouth should be.

I'm thinking, had they designed the horn with two openings--one at the top and one at the bottom, or even a double horn, the sound would have been greatly improved, based on the couple of Puritan phonographs I've heard. But to be fair, it's not too bad if you have bare hardwood floors, and stand some distance away.

Facebook Marketplace always adds shipping, even if you set the ad up as no shipping. The seller has to edit the shipping after the ad is listed. Facebook has some flaws in their software.
