Hey, it's always fun to see external horn disc machines slip into the market and come out of hiding.... and, at a decent price. I thought those days were gone...

Good luck, Mike - fingers crossed.

Just heard back from the seller. It is no longer available. Someone must have gotten to it before me. Bummer.

Darn! Buyers move in fast on those facebook listings.... Secretly, I am beginning to think the bargains are on the back roads, at yard sales, poorly advertised estate sales, these days. Anything good on facebook or craigslist is gone within hours = no fun.

I have found a few sleepers on facebook, Craigslist etc over the years, but they are few and far between

I just got a gorgeous 8-30 for $175 off Marketplace- sure, I got it quick, but as soon as I asked for them to hold it a few days they marked it sold and stayed in contact. All it needs is a reproducer rebuild. The deals are still out there!

Off the top of my head, I’ve found a Victor II, a Victor IV, a Circassian Walnut XVI, a Model C GEM with 2/4 conversion and a K reproducer, an HMV 460 in oak, an Amberola I-A in mahogany, a I-C Long Play, a walnut Credenza, a mahogany A-250, a low-trunnion Type AT Graphophone, a mahogany B-150, an early mahogany XIV, a Pushmobile cart, and a few other things on Facebook Marketplace. One just has to be diligent. Gold is where one finds it!

Agreed - I have been the happy recipient of some great/unique machines at fair prices off Facebook and Craigslist. Lately though, it seems like you have to move very fast to snap up anything good and cheap....

On another note, I have noticed that the prices have come down quite a bit this past month or so on common machines [cabinet Victrolas, Grafonolas, Off Brands]. Has anyone else noticed this? I am talking $75 and less. Maybe this is an indicator of an upcoming economic cycle... :?

This might be a good time for entry level collectors to pick up a few machines and get into the hobby!
