Anyone know when victor stopped making brass orthophonic reproducers an changed over to pot metal?
I think they started in 25 but don't know when they changed over

I will guess on the last two door Credenza serial # 10500 , 1925 year production.

But i may be wrong

I'm not so certain they stopped in 1925. I have a 4 door Credenza #13839 which the lists put in 1926. I found it with a brass reproducer and there's every reason to think it's the original. To be technical they may have stopped MAKING them in 1925 but they may have still fitting the remaining stock in 1926.

Edit: my tone arm is a two-piece arm

I can't find the article now, but have read somewhere that the brass #5 was manufactured only the first year. At the same time Victor switched to the pot metal, they chnaged tone arms fron the two piece to a single piece. The first arms had a seam just past the first bend.

If you have a Credenza with a two-piece tone arm, would it be proper to believe it originally had a brass sound box?

I used to have the Revere model, which had the two-piece tone arm and a pot-metal backed soundbox, so the original brass ones must be pretty scarce. Bob Ault

Based on my knowledge and experience Victor only made the brass Orthophonic for a very few months. I had an early four door Credenza with a potmetal reproducer and two-piece taper tube. I have heard that the two door models all had brass and the switch was made when they changed the cabinet to four doors.
