I am wondering who picked up that factory painted GEM from the auction? Congratulations to whoever grabbed it that was a beauty!

I saw that listed and saved photos. Interesting that factory decorated machines don't show up very often.

Wow! That is a rare one! I only know of one other example, itβs has a little more decorations than this one and a mahogany case. For that kind of money for the extras when new, you could have just upgraded to a better machine. Glad they chose this new! So cool! What auction did this come form? Congratulations to the lucky new caretaker!

Iβm not questioning the authenticity of the machine, but just wondering how they concluded that it was a factory pain job. This is the only one that I had seen.

Sorry, but that looks like it was done by a child. Especially the gold on the carriage arm and fleur-de-lis near the feed gears.

Come to think about it, now that I have been reminded as to how pretty the one I was referring to actually is [thanks

], the first one seems very different regarding the special decorations and the quality.

I may be wrong, but I don't think the first one left the factory that way. I'm thinking it might have been something that was offered by a dealer to dress the machine up to make it more appealing to the lady of the house.

It looks like that could be factory painted, but if I recall the only other painted GEM I've seen was the one on the CAPS website, and that one has a lot more going on. This looks kinda minimal in what's there. Not gonna doubt the authenticity, since I've only seen a factory painted banner Home and a Triumph in person but it's very distinct from the only other GEM example I've seen.
