A friend of mine needs to sharpen Burmese thorn needles and would like to purchase one of these MAL sharpeners.

That's actually a Universal, very similar, superb sharpeners, very hard to find, and sadly you just missed one: viewtopic.php?f=20&t=53187 I've seen several sell for £200 or more. (Later variants of the Universal are almost as good although lighter in construction and tend to be rather cheaper.)

MALs are better still, even rarer, and I'd expect to pay even more, unless very lucky!
