Edison Triumph Model B Cygnet Issue

Group,

For some reason my 11 panel cygnet isn't hanging correctly. It seems like the crane isn't high enough. The elbow hits the crane when I move the carriage, and it's leaning backwards. I drilled the holes in the back of the cabinet... so it MAY be possible that I drilled them in the wrong spot? But I double checked my measurements before drilling the holes and it seemed correct. I have the adjustment screw all the way up as well.

I tested the set up with a 10 panel horn and it works perfectly. But for some reason the 11 panel doesn't seem to fit.

Any thoughts on how I can fix this? I ordered this crane from Brian's website. Did I order the wrong one? Edison Cygnet Horn Crane for Early Triumphs with Integrated Hanger on Horn with Angled Carriage × 1

Thanks,

David

Let's see photos with the 10 panel on it please.

I think the two things you need to pay attention to are the angle and length of the lower part and the position of the ball hook on the flowered part.
To me it looks like your crane needs to be lower and overhang further up top. But then I am a disc guy and kicked my last cylinder machine to the curb years ago. :D

If I had to guess, I'd guess that there are two different cranes.

You ordered the wrong upper rod. You need the later crane for use with Cygnets without the integrated hanger.

Oh I am dumb   . I will get the right crane and post the results when it arrives.

Thanks

If it were my machine, I would simply take the top section, place it in a vice and bend it until it hangs properly. I have made my own crane replicas in the past so you may say I custom fit them.

I trust the replacement crane section you have ordered will suit nicely.

I have already done this. I can’t bend the top section any higher…. because then it would lean the horn even further back.

That's your problem. You have to bend it forward and lower. Look at how you have the suspension spring bottomed out because you have bent it too high. And bending it higher has thrown the horn back into the crane.

Nothing needs to be, or should be, "bent". You simply have the wrong crane part. No degree of bending will make it correct.
