2 songs on one Blue Amberol

Post by Energ15 »

I have just received a batch of Blue Amberol records and was looking through the titles when I came across one that said "(A) De Sandman (B) The Drum". Did Edison ever record two short songs on one Blue Amberol record?

I know Indestructible released a few like that, but I dont recall ever seeing a BA like that.
Does it include a catalogue number on top, or Edisons trademark signature?
It may be one of those mystery cylinders like I recently posted, (and was passed in at $146 reserve not met..)

The one on ebay is not part of the standard educational series as Brad suggested, as these are all numbered between 1651-1710, but it could be part of a special instruments of the orchestra type set I suppose?

Any chance of a picture of the title end of yours?

Yes it has a catalogue number of 2903 and has the Edison signature. When I played it, it definitely had two different recordings on it. Here is a picture:

Yes, it's listed in the catalogue & was released in 1916. Having a quick flick through the catalogue list, I didn't spot any others with an A-B designation, but there are a few that have two songs listed for the title, normally with ;& separating the titles.

There are also the recitations by Edward Sterling Wright of Paul Lawrence Dunbar's poems, e.g. #2235: (a) "In de Mornin' ; (b) "Jes' Gib' Him One ob Mine"
