Anyone recognise the elaborate stand here ? or is it not a gramophone item at all ?

I like it but don't think it is phonograph related. It looks like there is a replacement motor? There is an extra hole on the crank side.

Did the Gramophone Company really offer a costly and elaborate stand for the Junior Monarch? Or did this originally support an aspidistra?

Even a Junior Monarch looks top heavy on that stand. The Aspidistra gets my vote.

Can anyone post period photos of a machine used on a stand like that? It looks so darn tippy to me.
Thanks, Jerry

I doubt it's an original stand but frankly I don't care, I want it. I think the Junior sits on it quite well but there would be earlier machines which might arguably be a safer bet to place on it, if you pardon my pun.
The thing is I'm not going to attempt bartering for the whole package when I don't need a Junior Monarch with an extra hole (or six?) in the cabinet.

Admittedly I know almost nothing about these machines, but - the motorboard lifts up on the side with the winding handle. Couldn't the extra hole be for the sprung catch (possibly no longer present)?

The stand caught my eye too. I like it and it displays the gramophone well. Certainly a period item which could have been sold for a variety of purposes. Not a Gramo Co. (G&T) item that I recognise. Gramo Co. stands in common with other makers had a cabinet for records and I can’t see that this one has a door for that purpose. That being the case, I think this is unlikely to be an item specifically sold for gramophones.

Many purpose built gramophone stands had a drawer at the top for needles and other sundries.
This one has a panel at the bottom which may be a drawer, albeit an inconvenient one to use.
