Got a good deal yesterday. 1925 Granada with a 4 digit serial number came with a brass nickel plated reproducer 70.00
thing is I only wanted it for that, cabinet is ok it works fine but don't realy want the cabinet
is it worth much or just for parts ?
I hate to part it out but the leg was broke on it and the woodwork is in good shape veneer is very good
should I part it out or refinish it and sell it then.
Again I only got it for the brass reproducer, sounds great the plating is like new I don't think it was used much

If I can get over my jealousy I should ask you to post some pictures of this machine. Such a low serial number on this one my vote would go to trying to save it if possible. Or maybe keep the #5 and sell the cabinet to someone who will restore it.

I gave the cabinet to my brother Inlaw, I saved the motorboard the tone arm crank and knobs for the door pulls
it wasn't worth saving, I only got it because I was lucky to have it come with a brass reproducer
I can take a few pics of the stuff I saved and reproducer if you want?
But the cabinet was to far gone unfortunatly
I also saved the folded horn

I gave an VE 10-69 cabinet to my old neighbor. They use it in
their living room. I bought it with out any electronics but it did have a good changer. I found another that had the right electronics and a modern drop changer. I kept the better cabinet and made one good one. The other cabinet sat in my garage for years. It was not perfect but the distressed look is trendy and it looks good where it is. I am definately not a believer in saving every machine. If it is a challenge and fun to restore great. If it is good practice or a chance to try out a new technique great. But saving another VV-XI for the greater good of humanity isn't on my list. Like pound puppies at the shelter, e-Bay is full of unwanted phonographs.

I can't tell you how many machines I parted out
can't save ever cabinet. But in 13 years of collecting I have many parts saved from many machines saved
never know when you need that spring or crank escusion
