Recent Estate sale Find!

Went to an estate sale this past Friday for another phonograph related item. Knowing there were records there also I decided to check them out which I usually don’t because there’s usually not anything good especially in the third hour of the first day. I was pleasantly surprised when I knelt down and put my readers on to be able to see just what was in the boxes and binders when this Edison record was the first one I picked up. I couldn’t believe my eyes! Holiday Greetings From the Bunch at Orange! There were a good deal of other period records, Victor Monarchs and other various DD records with Jazz tunes. Needless to say I loaded up a nice size box( all that I could carry) and headed to the checkout table. She gave me a discount since I had so many. They were originally priced at $2.00 each. I didn’t argue! They are still out there to be found!

Very nice records, Wes-- Jazz tunes on Diamond Discs are a lot of fun and that added boost of sound quality makes it even better. And to get Victor Monarch records is amazing. I hope you have fun enjoying those new records; always nice to make a good find.

I remember attending a sale where two old ladies competed for a lawnmower and paid more than the cost of a new one.
Sadly this type of sale on the property is now rare in the UK. When such sales were advertised they all too often attracted the attention of burglars, who knew that the place was likely to be unoccupied and unsecure.
As a result, properties are usually cleared and their contents removed to the relative safety of the auctioneer's premises.
