This 10 inch cardboard disc fits on a turntable, but what is it's purpose?
I do not speak German and Google Translate has proved unhelpful.
Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

From what I can tell, you'd put it on top of a record, and insert the needle into the slot where the groove is exposed, when you play it. Is the underside some type cloth material or does it have a flock coating? My guess would be it was held stationary while the record was spinning underneath, and would more or less, scrape dust from the record's surface.
Just a guess.

I can now understand why there is a semi-circular cut-out. It must be to enable the revolving label to be seen while the device remains stationary. There is no coating on the reverse, just a plain cardboard surface.
I am always interested in gadgets which did what few people wanted done. I have yet to try it.

Looks to be to keep the record from dragging across the record completely. Or maybe to protect the label if the needle jumps out of the last groove at the end of the record.
