How late did Victor continue to use the ornate "Orthophonic" scroll labels ?

Also, what colors did they come in ? I've only seen black or red... did they also come in blue or purple like the acoustic "arch labels" ?

From the Ted Staunton label website:

This stylized scroll border was in use from 1926 to 1936. Reminiscent of cartouche frames on early maps, it significantly reduces the space available for information. Though the overall impact is visually attractive, the type sizes are necessarily small and lines are cramped.

Those of us of "a certain age" can remember the resurrection of the Victor scroll label for use on the Jefferson Airplane's hits collection on 12 inch LP called the "Wurst" of the Airplane. Or were they the Starship by then? Anyway, they were signed to RCA Victor, so the use of the label art was legitimate.

On the rear cover of several Victor catelogues they only ever show the red and black labels. I guess if there had been more than that they would possibly of shown those too.

I have that record, and I don't even really like the Jefferson Airplanes.
The Victor sleeve is a reproduction, too.

There were a few issues on blue label in the scroll style, I know I've got a St. Louis Symphony 10 inch electric on that label. There were also green label scroll issues that were used as language lesson discs, I have one of these sets as a curiosity (Spanish) someplace. More info on these can be found in John Bolig's excellent book on Victor Blue, Green and Purple label issues available from the Mainspring Press.

Green label language records, like the batwing labels. Those are seldom seem either, at least by me. Never seen a green scroll to this day. They must be pretty scarce.
