Ok, another newb question. I am starting to gather quite a collection of disks and have a conundrum. What's the best way to to store disks? It would seem to me that flat one on top of the other would be Ok as long as you limited how many you stacked. Not knowing anything about the qualities of these old materials though I could be way off. On edge might be better then.
So what's the prefered method of storing these disks?
Thanks,
Jerry

I (as well as most collectors I know) store records vertically, like books. The only thing you will want to make sure of, is that they are not slanted at all, otherwise it weakens them and they can crack. They should always be kept in sleeves or albums too, so they don't rub together and scratch each other.

Vertical is surely the way to go, unless you have a very short stack. Almost all of my 78s are shelved vertically, in their original albums. Single 78s are stored flat, in sleeves, on the shelves of my XI, but never more than about 8-10 records in a stack.
