Question about Victor Horns...

For a number of years Victor offered a buyer the choice of a brass belled & black bodied horn or a black Flower horn. As time passed the black Flower horn became the typical horn of choice. If a buyer preferred the brass bell choice, how late in the horn era was that offered? I ask because I am working on a late Victor iV project and I have a nice brass bell horn as an option. Thanks for your replies.

Hi Jerry,
I have a brochure for Victors dated May 1917 in which all the Victors are offered with either the brass bell or the flower horn. Specifically the Victor IV is standard with either a 16 ½ inch brass bell horn or a flower horn with a 22” bell.
Hope that helps! Regards, Bob

Thanks Bob, I appreciate your post. I bought a project Victor IV. It has the late slide in elbow, Victrola style brake, and a sheet metal turntable. I would date it about 1917 or so. The only horn in my spare stack is a nice black & brass horn of the appropriate size for a IV. I was reluctant to mate it with my machine if it was not offered that way.

Thanks, Jerry B.
