The seller speculates that the machine may be of German origin but the turntable, brake, speed control and needle bin are all to be found on UK Columbia portables. Can anyone identify it?

Don't know... I've seen similarly cased portables in Spain, of several origins, but carrying Thorens hardware and the bowl reflector in the lid.
At the right side on the table there's something resembling a 102...

I've seen a couple of these before, and have been on the lookout for one to go with my early Citroen H-van (which I'm now planning to sell however). The picture below is not of mine, but very similar.

The two I've seen previously were a fairly ubiquitous English off-brand make, no the tip of my tongue, but I can't remember it at the moment!

The system of tonearm bending upwards into the lid, and what seems to have inside the lid a kind of horn, reminds me of a Dulcetto portable... The grill cloth wants to make one think that there's some kind of horn contraption resembling a folded bifurcated horn fit into the lid...
Anyways it looks carefully designed and of certain luxury, from many details of finish, all around... Decorative trims everywhere, cup washers in the screws, cushioned lid, the pins and holes to retain the lid in closed position, generous solid corner protectors, rubber feet, solid grained fabric, robust Columbia style lid latches and locks, etc.

It's come back to me - the previous two of these (or near identical, with the same angled decorative strips over the grille cloth) were badged as Maxitone.

Dulcetto made some similar models too.

I am not saying that it is a Gilbert but I saw a Gilbert portable recently (on ebay maybe) which had a very similar chrome and 'material' backing approach.

I just thought it interesting that one seemed to be a 'similar' art-deco design / approach to the other and that maybe there was a connection some-how ?
