Pooley Record Storage Cabinet

Hello,

I just purchased a circa 1911 Pooley Record Storage cabinet at an auction. I bought it because I thought it was the neatest thing they had in the building not because I have a need for one, in fact it won't even hold my more modern style records. So I really know very little about these things other then what I have found on the internet. It holds 150 records and has a mechanical selector that you slide back and forth to choose your record. Its made of quarter sawn oak and is in pretty great shape except for some gouges in the top. It even comes with the original key to lock it.

If anyone has more information about these or would like to purchase it please let me know. I would love to have it land in the hands of someone that can appreciate it and also make good use of it.

Thanks

Tim

Took some pictures last night after wiping many years of dust away. I will get them posted today. As for price the only price I have seen for one of these is over $2000.00 for a much larger one with glass doors. After I get the pictures up feel free to throw a price at me an we will see what can be worked out.

Thanks

Tim

Tim,
These usually sell in the $300-$500 range depending upon style and condition. The one with glass doors at $2K is a rookie non-collector's wishful thinking. Columbia Grafonolas were also fitted with selector/ejectors for a time in the teens.

Oh I had not intention of getting anywhere near $2000.00 for it. I was just saying that I could find no other reference for a price point. Once I get the pictures up and people can see it a price can be worked out. I am not trying to make a ton of money I would just love to see someone make use of it.

I sold one to a friend on the forum for $135 but it did not have the record selector option. Jerry B.

Yep, that's the cabinet I expected it to be. Oak is good, because so many more oak external horn disc record players were produced in proportion to mahogany examples.
