What Is This Record?

Does anyone know anything about this record label, and the story behind it. Perhaps something similar to the Voice Of America radio stations and broadcasts? All I have is this photo, sent to me by a friend asking if I knew anything about it.
Thank you for any info!

Off the bat, I can see that it's an early Capitol pressing.

There is a connection between the record and Birch & USCO Brand.

Vintagetenor, Roaring20s - thanks for the responses - and clues!
The Capitol records connection places the tune at 1943. The Birch phonographs with the USCO label/sticker together with the record label are very similar to the WW2 Army field phonographs and V-Disc programs. Unfortunately, all I find when searching "USCO" is the US copyright office (and a tire company).

you could try asking David Lennick, Mike Biel or Donna Halper at 78-L, they might know... If you are not registered there, tell me and I'll forward your question. you cannot post photos there, but they can be sent to them by email...

The flag on the label has just 48 stars, so one would think it predates Hawaii and Alaska becoming states.

Oh, but that wasn’t until 1959 (I just googled it), which is way later than I had thought.

This oil lamp is currently for sale on eBay from a seller in India. Perhaps the USCO brand included a wide range of items?

Perhaps these were used as part of a cold war goodwill program.
Here's one more record ...
