This machine showed up on Ebay-- Went for over $600.. Did someone here get it? I'd love to know what it is.
Appears to have a moving mandrel and fixed reproducer, much like a Wizard.

The wood base does not look very old - the varnsh is a bit 'sloppy' ?
Maybe home made ?
I am probably very wrong ?

That is an exceedingly rare machine known as the "Rex." For many years it was believed that none existed in real life -- only old ads. In 2012 Jean-Paul Agnard found one, which until now was the only one known. He wrote a detailed article about it in The Sound Box in June 2012. I attach a picture of his.
I wish I'd seen the listing. It actually sold very cheaply given its extreme rarity.

Wow- Thanks Rene.. I glad know what it is. There's still rare stuff out there to be found!

Hopefully someone on the forum snagged it and we'll see more of it in the coming days.

Yes, someone on the forum was the lucky bidder. Although this Rex Premium is in remarkably good overall condition, it needs a few repairs. Once they've been taken care of, I'll share what I've learned.
