Edison DD B-80 Question

I am wondering what is going on with this reproducer lifting mechanism. I found the remains of a small thumb screw head which seems to have broken off. What is the purpose of that? The lock washer looks suspicious and in the photo I noted what looks like solder or JB Weld.

Can anyone send me a photo of a proper set up and explain how it works?
Thanks!

This is how that looks on my machine. Mine just has a pin through that thing to hold it in place, but your machine is either different or maybe it had to be repaired in some way. That pin also comes up against a "stop" that you can kind of see opposite of the position where the pin is in the picture. If you want more pictures, I can take some. They are kind of strange machines, but they do play fairly well.

This is mine. Looks just like Earl’s mechanically.

Just as an additional data point, here is a picture of this part on my A-80. Hope that helps.

Happy New Year!

Thanks, guys! Mine does appear to be a bit different, but it works, so I will not do anything else to it.
I appreciate that you took the time to send me pictures of your B-80s.

And for a colleague that is nuts on DD reproducers, but curious enough and eager to learn... , What is that screw supposed to do...,? Looks like a fine adjustment of the lifting mechanism... Did I guess it right? ;)

I don't know what the reason for the thumb screw is.

Doesn't it raise and lower the reproducer by the action of the cam?

Hi Jerry,
I was not clear. I was referring to the small thumbscrew on the left which is broken off. The large knurled knob does indeed raise and lower the reproducer. I am not sure if this is a different version of this model or if it was modified. In any case, it is working.

The lateral screw is there only to fix the big knob, Iñigo. My machine, certainly from another batch than the one posted above, does not have that lateral screw, the knob is fixed by a metal rod - see photo. The height adjustment of the arm/horn is set internally.
