Victrola 10-50

Somebody is selling one as "inquire" near the Pittsburgh area on craigslist. Looks like it needs some work, but it is not far from me if somebody is interested in it.

The guy selling this said he wants around $3,000 for the non working 10-50
How much do one of these in decent shape go for nowadays anyway?

$250-500? Definitely not $3k, and it's largely a buyer's market if the pot metal parts haven't been replaced. There are a few others for sale elsewhere for cheaper if you can sort out movers.

Thats exactly the price point I was thinking of Garret. When the guy told me $3K I gasped. He then asked me what a reasonable price would be, and I just did not have the heart to tell him because it was his dad's, who just passed away. He also had a broken music box he wanted $10k for.
I think I will start a "logbook" of all my record players and what they are worth and update it every five years or so. That way when I die my daughters won't try to sell my credenza for $6,000 or my VV-260 for $2,000. Unless inflation stays high then they may be worth that in 30 years

I have been running into more situations like this lately, too. I, also, never have the heart to tell a seller actual market value when they have started so high...
I just make some small talk, AND make sure they have all my current contact info before I leave. I politely tell them to contact me in the future if they can't sell it...
That has worked out for me a few times, by the way...
