I have a Columiba Grafanola in very good shape.
Im glad I came across this forum. I read the post on the tonearm sticking
and have the same problem. I have worked it back and forth and get it to play
well on occasion. Id like to try to take it apart and sand it down as stated
in the other post but cant figure out how to get it apart.
I took it off the cabinet no problem. There is a little screw at the base near
the spring portion. I can figure out from there how to, or if it comes apart.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

There is a metal ring that clips onto the end of the tonearm then sits in a groove where is goes into the bottom part. It should pop out if you pull it straight out but since it is all pot metal you run a very high risk of breaking something.

This is what it looks like when you take it out, you can see where the metal ring goes in the groove:

It sort of snaps in. It's kind of tricky getting it back together, because you have to hold the ring shut while you put the tone-arm back on. You will see what I mean once it's off.

So the ring is inside the tone arm? and if I pull the two sections apart, it should come off ?

Wow, thanks for the info, I just stumbled onto this thread and I will try the same thing. You Grafanola looks exactly like mine.
