Nothing a good strip and refinish won’t cure.

Just a shot in the dark: there’s probably no way the factory would have applied that finish and not added the Electrola decal on the inside of the lid.

Seems intact, especially the oft-snapped pickup arm. Getting it down the stairs will be a challenge, and partial disassembly is probably the safe way.

Transportation from Ohio, to wherever, is next.

Probably best not to try to ship it by train.

LMAO! At least not Norfolk Southern, although Akron is nowhere near either disaster. To my eye, that looks like what they called "Antiquing" back in the Sixties. Yes, it'll come off. Maybe if shipped by train it'll be stripped by the time it arrives!

I will say that while it would look better stripped and refinished… it’s not such a bad paint job. I think we’ve all seen worse.

It's an American folk art. If you think this way, it won't be so bad.

Say what you like, I think that the artist had some real talent. It’s growing on me. It just needs the right home.

Unless a close view of the painting revealed a bad work, and if it is well done.... I would leave it as is. The only drawback I see it's that the two daisies at the left door seem to be looking at you!

There is a gutted cabinet on eBay for a cheap price currently, I believe in Louisiana. Not mine!

It looks like it still has a decent finish. All one would need to do is grab the two lids and the front doors off of it and transplant them. It would be a good way to save a lot of time and work.

I can understand how some people like to keep user-modified stuff around as curiosities. But this one is a couple of bridges too far, and I’m saying this as kindly as I can.

It's funny how, as you get older, you factor in the size/weight issue. I would have to pay someone to get that thing down the stairs and into the front yard, at least, I could handle it from there. I didn't used to think about things like that....

Here, once again, is the X-ray of my fractured vertebra, busted a few years back during a botched attempt to move a Borgia II (actually a 9-40, which is pretty much the same thing, and just as life-threatening). Classic case of a guy past 60 acting like he’s in his 30s.
