Humm, at least he wasn't pulling that spring toward him.

Look at all that grease on that nice table top.

His wife is going to kill him!

Try to do the same with stronger springs! Those in the video were already quite weak. Stronger springs can "explode" when suddenly released from the casing. To safely remove a spring I hold the barrel upside down into a large bin standing on the floor. The released spring falls into the bin and is thus prevented from jumping around or hurting me.

He's lucky. I've only worked on springs a few times in my youth, but with the large Brunswick springs he would have slashed his wrist if he'd pulled that trick.

That picture looks like it was shot from the branches of an aluminum Christmas tree!
I had a spring get away from me once. It scared the Dr. Smith out of me and I was lucky I didn't get sliced.

It didn't look like he was having a very good time trying to get that spring back in the barrel and it does help to be doing spring replacement on a firm surface rather than a tile patio table.

I almost died laughing when the "boing" sound went off and the spring
jumped out.

Yeah, try that with a large Edison or
Victor spring and be ready to lose an eyeball. I still do
all my spring releases in a 5 gal plastic bucket just as a precaution
although I have not had one get away from me for some time.

COOL!
My older daughter still has the silver tree her grandparents bought when they moved to Florida in 1966.
