I have available a Victor III that needs to be restored. The motor casting is broken. The exhibition is a round hole type. The turntable is cast iron. It would be great to see someone get this that wants to restore it. I would hate to part it out. I am asking $500 plus shipping. Or, I can deliver to the Midwest Show coming up in June for free if pre-paid. Contact me with any questions. Thanks, Ken Brekke

That's an excellent find & $500 is a very fair price for someone looking for a project. Restored to perfection it should be one of the nicer machines in anyone's stash--Victor III's are a nice size for just casually listening to 78s but they have more than "casual" sound quality.

The cracked motor casting is a problem but here is a trick--either change the casting (a motor frame like for an early VV-IX MIGHT fit; this motor has a threaded crank so it's probably a slightly later Vic III instead of one of the early ones with a slotted crank). Nice thing about the cabinet here too is that the cracked motor board is going to be easier to repair--it can be warmed up a bit with a damp towel & a steam-iron, then glued & clamped together. It'll be as strong as you want it and there's no veneer in these like in a Columbia motor board.

Whoever gets this, I have a Victor III that's in uncommonly good original condition except for the horn, escutcheon, and mainsprings (those were replaced.) Everything else is pretty much stock. I can get you pictures of the shades of stain & all that for reference to get this thing almost indistinguishable from when it was new.

If I wanted another project I'd be on this like white on rice, but I am full of projects, short on dough. There are enough Victors ending up as spare parts on eBay that I hope this one finds a collector who's able to build it back to look nice. @dzavracky or @Mormon S do you think you all want a project?

Believe me I considered it.. but I don't have access to the shop I was working at before. So without a proper place to work, I don't want another project. Plus for $500 I could finish my full barrel. It's a great project... good luck with the sale!

Cheers,
David

The horn is the most expensive to ship. I will offer this Victor III without the horn for $450 plus shipping. The motor casting could be repaired with JB Weld. I would prefer to sell this as a project than parting it out. Contact me with any questions. Thanks, Ken Brekke

The Victor III is sold. I have a buyer for it including the horn.
