This is a one of a kind Phonograph Lamp made for the movie "Sleepless in Seattle" staring Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks. The phonograph lamp was made as one of the props for the movie. As far as I knew, it was the ONLY one made. ( SINCE I POSTED THIS, MEMBERS HAVE POINTED OUT THAT THERE ARE OTHERS AROUND, INCLUDING ONE OR TWO ON EBAY. I CAN ONLY SAY THEY LIED AT THE AUCTION. AT ANY RATE, IT IS STILL A VERY COOL ITEM. I HAVE REDUCED THE PRICE SINCE THERE ARE OTHERS AROUND. ) It can be seen when Meg Ryan is in her Lawyers office. The lamp and Meg Ryan are shown while she is in his office walking around excitedly. I will try to include a clip from the movie that shows both the phonograph and Meg Ryan. The clip is a lot of bytes so it may not upload. When I look ar preview, it does not automatically open the movie clip. I have to click on 4213.MOV and it downloads so I can see it. The phono lamp comes with a DVD and a VHS copy of the movie.

The lamp is all hand tooled metal and has a bronze oxide appearance. It is 30' high x 19" deep x 14" wide. It has two light bulbs. One in the horn and one in the base. As you can see, there are art glass wedges in the horn for the light to exit. There is also art glass on the sides and front of the base for the other light to come through. It is a very attractive phono light and really sets off a phonograph collection. The phono lamp is a lamp only and does not play a record even though it has a turntable with a record on it. The tonearm pivots side to side and adjusts up and down. The lamp is not very heavy but would require a large shipping box. If I have to pack it, I will charge for the packing materials and my time. Buyer pays all shipping and insurance charges.

It has been in my collection since I bought it at a Columbia studio auction in Los Angeles in 1997. It is totally unique and well made. That said, the horn to backmount would not likely hold up well in shipping. It would be better if it were picked up at my home. But, I'm sure it could be carefully packed.

I am asking $950 for the phono lamp.

The one shown in the movie clips appears to have solid sides, not glass sides with musical notes.

Here's a green one!

And here's a 2011 sale of one on icollector. It did fetch $1,200, which is pretty impressive for a lamp.

They appear to have actually been a thing at one time, like there was actually production of them instead of it being a one-off by the props house. Some of what I find has notes on the sides, some doesn't; it's a neat lamp though.

I'm shocked, positively shocked to hear that auctioneers lie! Next thing you'll tell me is that eBay listings sometime contain erroneous information!

But in all seriousness, it's a nice lamp and certainly a great decor piece. If I had a square inch of room I'd buy it in a heartbeat, if for no other reason, Ken, that you are an extremely valuable asset to the phonograph community and your repair work is appreciated world-wide.

That sucks that they lied. There is a saying that gun collectors always say, "Never buy the story, always buy the item."
