After development over the past year 10-50 part sets are now available to replace all the bad pot metal parts on the Victor Automatic machines 10-50, 10-51, 10-70 and 9-55.
Since the turntable is not always bad (early ones are cast iron) the turntable will soon be available and priced separately.
The standard potmetal replacement set includes:
-Magazine Base w/shoulder screw and locknut, black powder coat paint
-Lift Pad, with hardware and felt, powder coated
-Index Assembly, copper plated with bronze Oilite bearing
-Front panel Index lever handle w/ special set screw, powder coated
-Tonearm lift collar w/ clamp bolt
-Record guide felt
These parts are fully finished, drop in replacements not requiring the tedious filing and trial filling of earlier sets. The parts are made from aluminum, steel and bronze. The magazine base, lift pad and index lever handle have a baked powder coat paint finish for durability and match the sheen and color of the original parts. The index links are copper plated for rust protection and look like the other copper plated links used in the changer. A bronze Oilite bearing is used in the index assembly for long life without lubrication. Each part was designed from the ground up, not recast from existing swollen out-of-spec parts. Development involved examining existing parts, patent drawings and testing with seven complete changers using both the Orthophonic and Electrola versions. Multiple prototypes of each part were made and tested for proper performance to refine the design. A new gear-less index assembly was designed that is more effective and a drop-in replacement for the geared design, it requires no modifications to the changer. The index handle indicates the correct record size. It just does the job effectively and without the slop of the original four gear design. Many index assemblies are in the field and they have been completely embraced by the collecting community. The original color 100% wool felt is laser cut for an exact fit. It is included and can be pre-installed or left off for those of you wishing to use your old felt.
