I think the seller tried to type "destroyed" and it got autocorrected to "restored"...

Less than 30 miles from me, but it can stay right where it is.

I noticed the "Close Lid Whilst Playing" notice. I wonder what model the lid was culled from. Shame they didn't just strip the inside of the lid. Nobody would have noticed that it wasn't original to the cabinet.

Funny you should say that as I'm not completely sure if I'm looking at a radiogram cabinet with drawers fitted into it where the speaker and fretwork once sat, or if I'm looking at a genuine set of drawers with an incongrous addition of an HMV lid. I think it's the former?

It would make a nice ensemble piece for the boudoir with this "repurposed 1920s STARR PHONOGRAPH LINGERIE CABINET"

The listing even includes a little history of the Starr phonographs:
"In 1872, the Starr Piano Company was established in Richmond, Indiana. When the major phonograph patents were expiring on the disc phonographs in the mid 1910s, American businesses saw this as an opportunity to invest in a rapidly growing market. In 1915. joining with other piano makers making phonographs like Kimball and Aeolian, Starr introduced their own line of phonographs. The Starr phonograph had a slight success at first for a minor brand, due in part to winning an award at the 1915 Panama–California Exposition. At the height of the Starr's manufacturing, they made 25,000 pianos, 15,000 phonographs, and over 4 million records annually. By 1929, the Great Depression impacted the record industry greatly and Starr cancelled their line of phonographs."
Nice to see somebody being so sensitive to historical considerations.
