Hayes factory underwent quite an overhaul with large extension built in 1927. As I slowly unpack 32 years of collecting I keep finding little gems including the original photograph show below.

It seems too early for a major push towards electrical equipment so presumably they needed far more capacity for acoustic gramophone production. This is just prior to the introduction of the re-entrant models so it's a curious development. The previous year was dire economically!

Not that I'm aware of, sadly!

Ás far as I know, there exist HMV buildings from the old Hayes factory, still in use recovered for other purposes, as per magazine articles i read years ago...

Fantastic photographs - and dated too ! (Taken on a Wednesday apparently - surprised there isn't more 'building activity really).

Very interesting links, thank you, although the Wiki page is slightly confusing to read. There are so many buildings associated with EMI and it seems some have survived and been re-used for alternative purposes within larger new developments whilst much has also been destroyed. Its interesting that it mentions the redevelopment of 1927-29, the exact period captured in the photo.

I had understood that much of the old site had been demolished apart from where the EMI Achive was until quite recently, but even this has now also moved to a new location that even those who were regular visitors to, aren't aware of!

I do have a WW1 large framed photo of "The Gun Press and Cartridge Department of The Gramophone Company", with all the staff members lined up outside the building. I need to find that one!
