Has anyone ever scanned a bunch of paper record sleeves and put them online? I have a lot of neat Victor sleeves and other manufacturers' that I'd like to put online, but I don't want to duplicate something that's already been done.

Damon,

I don't know of any exhaustive Image Library of sleeves online. Even so, If you've got cool stuff, please post it here! I've put off things for years because I heard of "other people already doing it". After that, I found that I still didn't have access to it. So fire away!

Regard,
Martin

There's a heap of them here, but you've got to go through heaps of other stuff to find them all.

There was another link I had that shows lots of sleeves, but I cant find it at the moment. I'll have to go through my favorites list one by one & see if it turns up.
The only other site of know of is this one, but it only covers 45rpm sleeves.
The 78 sleeves seem to be mostly English sleeves too, so I guess there's more interest in them in the UK than in USA?

I think 78 sleeves would make an interesting site, but I suppose one problem is that the bed of most home use scanners are too small to scan a complete 10" or 12" sleeve.
We did start a thread on sleeves some time ago but no-one seemed interested in adding to it.

It wouldn’t be too hard to scan the sleeve in two sections and combine them in Photoshop. I have some sleeves that I need to scan and add to the collection as well.

Hi, I had created a website for my hobby a while back. I collect machines and records and wanted a way to keep track of some of the collection. I started keeping track of old sleeves at first then decided to track every different sleeve I have regardless of age (and condition). I use the website to help me keep my collecting organized in my mind, at least so I can see if I already have something. Otherwise, everything I have is on shelves and in boxes, so this makes it easier to see if I already have a sleeve.

I really built the website to learn how to build a website and decided to use my collecting as content. I use Google's free hosting service. You can check it out at http://www.grampaphone.com and there is a 'Record Sleeves' menu item.

Some sleeves are single examples like Atomic but others drill down to a set of sleeves like Columbia, Victor, etc.

I have been collecting for only 6-7 years, so I am learning new stuff all the time. The website may not be totally accurate. This forum has been invaluable as a learning and research tool and often, just plain entertaining. I am indebted to all the contributing members.

Wow, that's a wonderful site. Most of those sleeves I've never seen before, and what a great section of labels too (and everything else). I didn't ever know what the "TOPS" sleeve was like, even though I've got several discs. It's interesting to see too, the different design variations used in USA as opposed to US & AU,on the more common sleeves like Columbia & Deeca. That QRS must be a pretty rare find?
Thanks heaps for sharing it all. It'll make a great reference site for me in the future.

Thanks, I am glad you enjoyed the website. I think it may be a useful to others as a visual library as well. Ironically, I found the QRS sleeve in a box of records but I don't have any QRS records - yet. I was really happy to find the Vocalion Race sleeve as well. I am looking for very early, pre-1910 sleeves which are few and far between to fill in the collection.
