Thought this was neat. Picked up what I thought was a rough Edison D but was pleasantly supprised. It's rough but will be a fun project.

The serial number under the dataplate won't match. Otherwise that's a quick way to fix it up with perfectly aged pinstripes and paint.

Usually the rust like this has me looking for a can of enamel paint and ordering stuff from Gregg Cline.

These were the last standards produced. I think ?? that they ended at around s/n 820000. This would have been in 1913 or 1914. If you would like I will look up an old file I did expostulating the dates after 1910 for your standard. It is close but not super accurate. The Fs are nice phonographs Basically after the standard D Edison simply switched some features to sell more machines as updated models. The basic parts of the D,E,and F are interchangeable if you need parts. The E went with the four minute only and the F had the enlarged horizontal carriage. The underneath s/n may not match the tag on top. Edison repurposed returned, earlier made stored phonographs or old stock. They are fun to restore . Tom

The rustoleum appliance epoxy paint is great for this, it does an excellent job of looking like the original japan paint, and can be sprayed thick to cover pitting.

Oddly enough the old bedplate didn't have numbers under the plate. It's a keeper machine, I have the original casting if someone is ever that interested. I am setting it up to hold a echotone cylinder horn. It should be a wild machine.
