HMV 194 FACEBOOK

Not quite sure what this is... ann HMV 194, stripped of it's magnificent horn? What I find curious is it's motor. Not seen anything like it. Almost looks like a mechanical governor for an electric motor, but I didn't think that HMV offered electric motors in the 193/4 series.

What say you?

It's a Garrard motor. Garrard used centrifugal governors in several of their electrically driven motors. Could it be a retrofit? Mores the pity...
