This wooden soundbox is unfamiliar to me. Does anyone know who made it ?

It comes from a Rondo portable gramophone. I used to own one; they are huge portables!

Looks interesting. Is it a tissue or paper diaphragm?

Unfortunately this was before mobile phones so I didn't have a camera ready at my fingertips in those days and I don't have any photos.

To this day I've never seen another one either! I can't recall what the diaphragm was made from but it has to be some kind of composite material. It worked well if I recall correctly.

One appeared on the Facebook page UK Gramophone & Phonograph Talk. Do a search for Rondo. You will find a video and some more pics there.
The soundbox diaphragm material looks different. This one looks like some fiber material and the other is Mica with a printed foil.

I tried to bid on this but eBay wouldn't let me because of the way the seller posted it.

Does anyone have one of either version for sale?
