Tabletop vv-50s sound better than console vv-80s?

As title. Am I alone in this observation?
Looks to me like the folded horn in the vv-50s sounds better. I have 2 of each here at the moment I put rebuilt
#2s done with Walt Sommers parts all around. The vv-50s seem much cleaner and flatter response from horn.....
Hmmmmmm

When I had a VV-50, I though it an excellent phonograph.
Does your's have the metal or wood horn?
The reproducer on the VV-50 may sound better too.
Have swopped them on the two machines to hear any change in the sound?

James.

My two VV-50s are both first revision metal horn type except for the lid (which is most certainly another fold in the horn) Same #2 reproducers used on all comparisons.
I will also note that my VV-80s are also the smaller console type. On later VV-80s
the horn would have to be larger. I think the real reason in the fact is the VV-50s have a much longer horn when unfolded.
The subject of acoustic horns is one of the most fascinating studies in physics and well understood.
