A blue Orchorsol sound- box ?

I just wondered if this sound-box was originally blue as I have never seen a blue one before ?

Or maybe it was re-sprayed ?

It also looks in over-all 'as new' condition as well ?

I think the Orchorsol portables came in at least black, blue, red, and like a rainbow multicoloured version. I presume this is from the blue.

Very interesting ! Thanks very much leels.

If I had known I might have bid as it would match my Blue Davey Roll-Right !

I have never seen a painted one either. It sold for a hefty £129.89. Perhaps the buyer has a blue Orchorsol portable.
Here are the original instructions, with no mention of a colour choice.

Well, I was the happy buyer of this great-condition (unused ?) soundbox as I have been aware of good results obtained by friends with theirs. I find the design interesting and I thought it would be instructive to experiment and compare with EMG/Expert equivalents. Watch this space................

Many thanks for the instruction leaflet Roger---much appreciated. Just how Orchorsol thought they could ever achieve top marketing success with their logo completely eludes me !

Here are a couple of photos from the eBay posting to show further details.

Oh, here is a link I think to the 'rainbow' one you mentioned:

That’s the one! I’m sure the chap Mrrgstuff on YouTube has a red one but I’m not sure if the soundbox is also red.

I’d love to know more about these, I have several which are the very same front design, without the lifebelt back. One is called “Rifanco Horshoo”, the other is a “Diana” and one “Cellotone”. They all have the same needle bar fitting with the ball bearing pivots, and the main body is the same design, just different backs. I’ll try get some pics later if anyone can give any advice.

They sound very good and the blue certainly is novel!

Congratulations, Graham, on a great purchase!

I also have an Orchorsol with lifebelt fitting (plain grey body) which I use on my Apollo Super 9 machine with papier mache internal horn. It sounds tremendous.

I also have a Master Mark 8 version which is the same body without lifebelt fitting and in a gold finish. Judging by the various posts here already, these must have been available for some time with various names applied to them. So who actually manufactured them?

It would be really great to see your photo's of the sound-boxes with the same front design but different backs. I have a few of the 'usual' ones with self adjusting + manual adjusting backs and a copy 'celebro' but I don't think I have heard of yours.

Very interesting indeed !

Here you go. From left, the Rifanco Horshoo, Diana, and Cellotone.

The diaphragms, backs, and needle bar fittings are the same on all of them. There’s no lifebelt, but the whole shape and design is the same as the orchorsol branded soundbox
