Interesting Gramophone

Reminds me of another make of gramophone a little bit.

Some-what sadly this morning I can't remember the name of the other make - maybe 'pixi-phone' ?

I think the machine you have in mind is the Perophone Pixie Grippa. I have one of those.
I had a Radiola with a simple internal sound reflector, pictured below.
It was made in France, but the eBay example has "British Made" on the lid transfer.

There is currently a Radiola portable for sale on Ebay in a rexine / canvas case. It has the "simple reflector" as seen above but its been on offer for over 2 years at £100 with no takers!

I have made 3 sensible offers on it but been turned down each time. Frankly I couldn't care less now. If it got reduced to £20 I'm no longer interested.

My Radiola cost me nothing. It was found when clearing a friend's shed, and was given to me.
I enjoyed restoring it, but already with too many portables I also lost interest and sold it.

Seven bidders pushed the price up to £328.89.

I think it is a very interesting gramophone. I have never seen one like it before and it looks very well constructed.

It would certainly 'stand out' in any collection.

I wonder if some-one on here purchased it ?

Although it was perhaps a high price I think it seems good value.

I doubt another one will emerge for sale for a very long time.

I have only seen one other of this design, in a YouTube clip posted by "He who shall not be named".
It is not the same machine as this eBay example. The horn is different.
Search "Radiola Portable" and you will find the clip. Where is that machine now?

I don't personally think it was worth that price. They are not rare and not particularly well made. If the buyer wants another Radiola he/she would be well advised to look at French Ebay where they seem to turn up quite frequently.

Agreed. I dropped out of the bidding when it began to look like silly money.
