Edison standard D re stamped F

I bought this edison standard at auction. Cheap. Upon inspection saw it was originally stamped D. But X ed out and stamped F

Edison was one to never waste anything…As the model D was being phased out, he used up all of the parts from previous machines on the newer models. In your case, he had the data plates crossed out as on your machine to use them for later models such as this F model…nice novelty with a good story…Congrats!

Hi Tim- Can you show a pic of the carriage? The "F" came with a unique, horizontal carriage and was equipped with a Model "S" reproducer and cygnet horn. I've seen a few over the years that have been converted to a slant front carriage.
Mine had been converted and, when I bought through an auction, came with a "C" and a "H" reproducer- Fortunately, through another member, I found the correct carriage and an "S".. Now all is right with the world

My Edison has the horizonal carriage with a k reproducer and cygnet horn. The mandrel was missing. And I had an E in a poor cabinet, with the spare parts. Only to realize the E is 4 minute and F is 2/4 minutes. I haven't begun swapping parts to see if it works

On the "E".. on the left end if the mandrel shaft is a small spacer that was added to prevent it from shifting into 2 minute mode... It's very easy to remove..and convert back to 2/4. Let us know how it turns out.
